This Week at First Lutheran
From December Synergy newsletter
Interim Pastor Mark Witte:
"I served as the pastor of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Arcadia for eight years until 1997. Since then the congregation has undergone many changes as its membership has increasingly come to reflect the multicultural make-up of its community. During this period a fairly small group of long-time (and aging) church members made significant investments in building maintenance projects. They gave the school building a face-lift, installed a new digital organ, replaced worn out equipment and appliances in the church kitchen, installed wood-laminate flooring in the fellowship hall, and put a new roof on the sanctuary. They did this because they loved God, their church, and each other. They were also willing to do what it took to make sure their church survived a difficult transition fueled in large part by demographic change."...

Synergy School
This is the time of the year that we tend to reflect with gratitude. The school board is thankful that this congregation had the vision to develop and implement a school. As a ministry of First Lutheran, we outreach to the community far and wide by offering a biblical foundation, as well as, a sound academic program. We are grateful for a year of stability and increase in enrollment. Our Director and teachers are committed and nurturing. The parents are enthusiastic and supportive. One of the accomplishments of the board was to contribute to the Thanksgiving Basket. We count our blessings and look forward to another year with gratitude.
